Never Stop Learning!

Welcome to a new series on our blog... What I'm reading. Every few weeks, one of our centrikidblog.com authors will highlight what he or she is currently reading. As for me? It's probably no surprise to many of you that I've picked up the biography of Steve Jobs. As soon as it was available for pre-order I snatched it up on the iBookStore on my iPad. On a side note, reading on my iPad has improved dramatically. With more settings to control brightness and color, the ease of tracking what page you are on and how many pages are left in the chapter you're in, the iPad is becoming more and more a one-stop shop for me for both books and everything else. And doesn't it just make sense to read about Steve Jobs on the device that he dreamed, invented, and developed? The irony is abounding every time I open up his book.

For me, this book is a great way for me to learn. Here in the CentriKid Camps office, we grow by learning from anyone and from anywhere. We try to always find something we can takeaway from an individual's life or a specific life experience. We want to be life-long learners so we take every experience we are given as an opportunity to learn something. Learning is a part of growing. The minute we stop learning we are essentially saying that we've got it all figured out, we don't need to grow anymore, and we are content with where we are. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be like that.

As I've read more into Steve Jobs' biography, I've discovered that his life is full of shortcomings and in essence, full of sin. But I shouldn't be surprised by that. It is at this intersection I can either dismiss Steve Jobs because I didn't agree with how he lived most of his life, or I can choose to learn from him, his mistakes, and his achievements. I choose the latter. As a result, I'm learning a lot about prioritizing family, maintaining strong relationships, and using past mistakes to create future successes.

In your ministry and in your life, what are you reading? Who is it that you are currently learning from? Check back for more posts about what we are reading and learning.
